Is A Universal iPhone and iPod Dock on the Way?

1 Komentar
AppleInsider is reporting that Apple filed a patent application back in June 2008 for a universal charging dock. The site even has a picture of the unit, which it says uses a malleable substance that would somehow fit around whatever device was inserted into it. Kind of like some sort of superhero foam, or jello! Or maybe not. As the illustration shows, the dock has a magic reset button on the front to change the shape of the material back to how it was before so that it could accommodate the next device.

Anyway, just imagine only having to bother about one charger for all your different generations of Apple devices: no more pesky dock adaptors and suchlike. And that magic spongy foam stuff can probably be used to fight crime too, it sounds like it has a life of its own. According to AppleInsider, the dock was called the “Aesthetically pleasing universal dock” in the patent application. So very Apple.

eBay launches Deals iPhone App To Increase Business

0 Komentar
eBay did not get to the top of Internet retailing by mistake. They took what many people thought of a something that could never happen and turned it into a billion dollar industry quicker than anyone though would ever be possible. They continue that innovation by introducing Deals.
Deals is an iPhone app that will give the user direct contact with eBay auctions and their mobile site. While there was a time when people would adjust their plans to get a great deal on something from eBay, the mobile app allows them to travel wherever and whenever and still get access to their auctions.

While eBay users were able to get access via the mobile site, it was not the same as surfing the Internet at home and shopping through all of the deals. This new app is supposed to make the experience more true to form and along with being able to bid, shoppers will see all of the special deals that they would normally get up on their screen at home. We have yet to give this app a try, so it is not possible to give more details yet, but this is one that we had to let you know about.

In the press release for this item, eBay stated that they expect consumers to spend well over a half billion dollars via their mobile phones on eBay over the upcoming year. This number is simply staggering. To get things going, on November 27th, they wills start their own version of the 12 Days of Christmas with the 12 Days of Deals. Retailers everywhere are going to have their eyes on this one because if it is as successful as eBay hints, retailers would be fools not to jump into the mobile market with both feet.

Do NOT install Icy in Blackra1n

0 Komentar
The icy bundle is broken and does not have permissions to install software
, but that’s not the worst part. Blackra1n install of Icy breaks cydia and rock your phone since it has a very old version of dpkg. This is the core to all these installers. Since icy is usually installed last, it overwrites dpkg with its own. This causes things like winterboard not working, sbsettings not working. What is really happening is mobile substrate cannot be installed (among other things).
I get about 20 emails a day on various issues that all stem from this one issue. So please spread the word. Do not install Icy in blackra1n.

iPhone OS 3.1.3 coming soon? OS 4.0 discovered

0 Komentar

While analyzing their website logs, BGR has found out something very interesting, related to the upcoming iPhone OS firmware release. Their server logs have clearly shown existence of both iPhone 3.1.3, and the major release – the iPhone 4.0 firmware. While we don’t know what new features the new firmware will offer, one thing is for sure that iPhone 3.1.3 firmware is only going to be a minor release for bug fixes and patches. iPhone 4.0 seems to be the major release version that is most probably going to hit something in summer of 2010 with the next-gen iPhone model.

Expect iPhone 3.1.3 firmware version to drop any time via iTunes. If you are using a jailbroken or an unlocked iPhone with firmware 3.1.2, then do not update to OS 3.1.3 immediately or you may loose the capability to jailbreak or unlock your device in the future. You have been warned!
